Holidays at the theme parks

When it comes to deciding when to decorate for the holidays, there are several schools of thought. Some prefer to wait until December 1, while others break out the tinsel as soon as the last trick-or-treaters leave. Fortunately, the Orlando theme parks like to err on the early side. This year you can start celebrating the holidays in Orlando as early as November 8. Read on to learn more about all the exciting theme park holiday celebrations taking place this year.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

Can you think of a more magical way to celebrate the holidays than at the Happiest Place on Earth? Neither can we! This popular Magic Kingdom event is back again this year. On select nights November 8 – December 22, you’ll be joined by Mickey, Minnie, and the rest of the gang in their most festive outfits as you enjoy a special holiday parade and fireworks. You’ll also have access to several of your favorite rides such as Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, and “it’s a small world”.

This event is separately ticketed, which means you’ll need a park ticket or annual pass, plus a ticket for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Tickets are already on sale and you can save $10 per ticket when you buy in advance.

Holidays at Universal Orlando Resort™

The holiday celebrations at Universal Orlando™ bring a little something for everyone in the family. Harry Potter fans will gaze in awe as Hogsmeade™ and Diagon Alley™ are magically transformed for the winter season with twinkling lights, festive carols, and indulgent treats and drinks. Over in Seuss Landing™, located at Universal’s Islands of Adventure™, all ages will enjoy a live retelling of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, starring the green, grumpy Grinch himself. Don’t forget to catch Universal’s Holiday Parade featuring Macy’s at Universal Studios Florida™. This beloved parade includes the Minions, characters from Shrek and Madagascar, and of course, Santa Claus.

While some additional experiences, like a holiday breakfast with The Grinch™, will require a separate ticket, all of the above events are included with your standard admission to Universal Orlando Resorts. For more updates on the holiday events, visit their website.

SeaWorld’s Christmas Spectacular

Starting November 23, you can experience the joy of Christmas along with your favorite aquatic animals at SeaWorld Orlando. The festivities continue on until December 31 and include meet and greets with Rudolph, Clarice, Bumble, and Yukon Cornelius from the beloved television special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. The celebration also includes several festive shows, such as a live nativity at O Wondrous Night®, a festive ice skating spectacular, and even a holiday-themed show starring everyone’s favorite sea lions, Clyde and Seamore. Don’t forget to visit SeaWorld’s Wild Arctic for a chance to meet Santa Claus.

All of SeaWorld’s Christmas festivities are included with general admission, so there is no need to purchase additional tickets. Upgrades for some of the events, such as reserved show seating and dining exclusives, are available through the SeaWorld website.
