Things to Do at Southern Hill Farms in the Spring
The flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping, and the sun is shining. Spring has arrived in Central Florida.
Take advantage of the longer and brighter days with a trip to Southern Hill Farms, a family-owned and operated farm less than a 30-minute drive from Rosen Inn International.
The 120-acre farm is a favorite amongst locals and a great place for all ages to enjoy seasonal Florida crops and flowers.
Here is what you can look forward to at Southern Hill Farms in spring.
Spring U-Pick
One of the coolest features of this farm is the ability to pick your own produce.
In 2024, you could pick and take home a pound of blueberries or strawberries for only $5.
Strawberries are available for picking earlier in the year, with the season typically beginning in late December.
Blueberries, peaches, zinnias, and sunflowers are all available for picking in the spring around March.
Southern Hill Farms grows five varieties of juicy, flavorful blueberries, all with distinct tastes.
Picking your own berries is a wonderful opportunity to teach kids about the food cycle, farming, and how plants grow.
Be sure to check Southern Hill Farms’ social media pages for updates on harvest timelines, weather closings, and U-Pick hours.
Food Trucks
Don’t feel like getting your hands dirty?
You can find plenty of seasonally inspired treats using fresh ingredients at Southern Hill Farms’ onsite eateries and food trucks.
In the Spring, you’ll find blueberry flavored everything.
The on-site bakery offers delicious blueberry donuts, tasty blueberry cobbler, and even a refreshing blueberry lemonade.
Be mindful not to fill up on sweets; there are also a variety of food trucks serving lunch with seasonal craft beers and farm-made cocktails.
Keep your eyes peeled for an empty picnic table so you can enjoy this seasonal feast in a picturesque farm setting.
Covered Playground
This farm welcomes families with children of all ages to enjoy a lovely – and active – spring day.
Let your kids burn off extra energy as they explore the Southern Hill Farms covered playground. It’s home to swings, chalk, LEGOs, sand to dig in, and items that are perfect for climbing.
Let your little ones run wild here for a peaceful car nap on the way home. Thank us later.
Market
After a beautiful day on the farm, commemorate your day and support local business by picking up a souvenir from the quaint onsite market.
Browse local hand-crafted items like raw unfiltered honey and homemade jams or pick up the latest Southern Hills Farm merch.
The market’s array of clothes, pins, stickers, patches, soaps, and jewelry are ideal for gifting or perfect for bringing home to remind you of your lovely spring day at Southern Hill Farms.
Flower Field
Some of the most iconic and photo-worthy areas on the farm are the Flower Fields.
Thousands of bright yellow sunflowers create an outstretched tapestry that is the perfect background for picking or posing.
During the spring, you’ll need to purchase a Flower Field Area Pass to enter the area. Passes are $6 for visitors ages 10 and up and $4 for children 3 - 9.
Your pass permits you access to the flowers for photos, along with one complimentary U-Pick sunflower. Additional stems are $2 per bloom.
Kid Zone (Weekends Only)
Most farms may not give off carnival vibes, but Southern Hill Farms isn’t your ordinary farm.
Just past the food trucks and across from the blueberry fields is an open expanse of familiar rides and games that are sure to incite laughter and memory-making.
Enjoy a carousel, pirate ship swing, Tilt-a-Whirl, jump pillows, a rock-climbing wall, and plenty of other exciting attractions that are sure to delight.
You can purchase an Unlimited Play Wristband when you first enter the farm for access to all of Southern Hill Farms’ most popular rides and games. Wristbands are $24 for individuals 42” and taller, and $20 for those under 42”.
