Your Orlando Packing List: What to Bring for Your Vacation

Countdown to vacation started? Check.

Now it’s time to think about packing.

Whether you’re planning your first trip to Orlando or your fiftieth, starting with a packing list is always a good idea.

Here are our suggestions for your Orlando packing list.

Note: Orlando has no shortage of drug stores, grocery stores, and all the big-name box stores you love. So don’t worry if you forget something at home or can’t fit it in your suitcase.

Still, packing these things ahead of time can alleviate the stress of stocking up after a potentially long day of travel.

Sunglasses

If you’re coming to Orlando, chances are you’re going to encounter some beautiful sunny weather.

A pair of sunglasses protects your eyes from powerful rays and makes a fun fashion statement.

Flip Flops

Is there anything that screams “vacation” more than a pair of flip flops?

Whether you’re spending the day by the pool, headed to the water parks, or wandering through the Rosen Inn International lobby for a snack, a pair of flip flops is a must.

Sunscreen

Speaking of sun, Florida sun can be intense.

It’s critically important to protect your skin from harmful damage with sunscreen.

Aim for a water-resistant product with SPF 30 or higher, and plan to reapply at least every two hours.

Hand Sanitizer

Orlando is one of the busiest tourist destinations in the world.

Protect yourself from germs and bacteria with a convenient travel-sized hand sanitizer that you can easily slip in your bag and take with you on any adventure on your itinerary.

The last thing you want on your vacation is to get sick.

Poncho/Compact Umbrella

While you should plan for sun when coming to Orlando, you may also want to anticipate rain.

Particularly in the summer, when daily afternoon thunderstorms are the norm.

A poncho or umbrella will keep you dry in a pinch, especially if you plan on spending time in the theme parks.

Plus, umbrellas are perfect for providing shade on sunny summer days.

Personal Fan

Coming to Orlando anytime between May and November?

You may want to pack a personal fan.

Florida heat and humidity is no joke, especially when paired with a long day of being on your feet or waiting in long lines.

A personal fan could be your saving grace on a hot Orlando day.

Water Bottle

Another key item for battling the Florida heat is a refillable water bottle.

It’s critical to stay hydrated, especially if you’re planning to spend a significant amount of time outdoors.

While theme park rules on bringing your own food vary by park, you are always permitted to bring along a water bottle.

Bathing Suit

There’s nothing better than a dip in the pool on a hot day in Orlando.

Even if you don’t think you’ll have time to go swimming, you should still pack a bathing suit. There’s nothing worse than finding yourself with free time, looking out at a sparkling, seasonally heated pool and not having come prepared to enjoy it.

Sweatshirt

Now that you’re prepared for the warm weather, it’s time to prepare for the cooler Florida weather, too.

Our late fall and winter months (November – February) can get chilly, especially at night.

Packing a jacket or a sweatshirt is a good idea for keeping warm when temperatures drop.

Theme parks are ready to roll out weather-appropriate merchandise like sweatshirts and ponchos as needed, but you can expect to pay a pretty penny for branded merch in a pinch.

Supportive Shoes

Whether you’re spending the day marching around a theme park, exploring the Orange County Convention Center, or embarking on another Orlando adventure, you’ll likely be getting in your steps for the day.

Packing a pair of supportive shoes can make or break your entire vacation.

Look for something with good arch support and cushioning for a long day on your feet.

Whatever you do, don’t try to break in a new pair of shoes while on vacation. Bring something you already know your feet love.

First Aid Kit

When on vacation, accidents – and blisters – happen.

Make sure you’re ready for whatever comes your way by packing a small first aid kit.

Band-Aids, aloe vera, pain relievers, tweezers, and antacids are just a few basics that you’ll be glad you brought in a pinch.

Don’t forget to bring any other medications you take and any day-to-day pharmacy items that you think may come in handy while you’re away from home.

Charging Bank

You’ll be amazed how quickly your phone battery can drain while you’re on vacation.

Prepare to recharge with a charging bank that gives you portable charging capabilities without the need to hover near an outlet.

With your battery fully charged, you'll be able to capture every memory and share every moment of your Orlando vacation.

Snacks

There’s nothing worse than getting hangry on vacation.

Pack a few filling snacks in your bag to keep handy while you’re adventuring, resting in your hotel room, or relaxing by the pool.

Running low on snack supplies? Stop by Lite Bite Mini-Market & Deli in the lobby of Rosen Inn International to pick up familiar favorites or tasty new treats to make your vacation even more satisfying.
