‘Tis the Season: Where to Find Orlando’s Best Hot Chocolate

There’s nothing like warming up after a snowy adventure with a warm mug of hot chocolate.

Here in Orlando, we may not have the chilly winter escapades that traditionally warrant warming up with a hot beverage, but we don’t need an excuse to appreciate delicious hot chocolate.

Here’s a list of where to find Orlando’s best hot chocolate so you can see for yourself which you love most.

AJ Chocolate House

A cozy coffee shop table displaying two tall glass mugs of hot cocoa and one mug of thick hot chocolate, found at AJ Chocolate House.

The art and finesse of traditional Belgian chocolate making has arrived in Winter Park.

AJ Chocolate House is a luxury chocolate retailer and restaurant selling house-made chocolate, truffles, cakes, pies, and waffles. They also serve a limited menu of savory items including cheese and charcuterie, croissants, and a luxury black caviar platter.

Settle into one of their cozy armchairs with a cup of hot (or iced) coffee, with or without a “chocolate explosion” for an extra special signature flavor.

For a pure, undiluted chocolate experience, their hot chocolates are decadent and unctuous, boasting the same cocoa flavors as their truffles and bite-sized confections. It’s available in two distinct options: European Dark Hot Chocolate and American Milk Hot Chocolate.

If just one kind of hot chocolate won’t satisfy your sweet tooth, splurge for the Norwegian Hot Chocolate with a layer of dark, milk, and white chocolate and topped with whipped cream.

Chocolate Museum & Cafe

A pale blue mug of hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and cocoa powder, found at the Chocolate Museum and Café in Orlando.

The Chocolate Museum & Cafe is always a favorite attraction here in Orlando.

Tour the museum to learn all about the origins of chocolate and the tropical jungles where cacao is harvested. Then, wander through their sculpture exhibit showcasing 25 solid chocolate sculptures of some of the world’s most iconic landmarks.

When you’re done learning and sampling, head to their cafe to try a variety of sandwiches, pastries, and chocolates so pristine and colorful, they look like gemstones.

The Cafe is always serving up hot, delicious coffee, but the real treat is their hot chocolate.

This isn’t your typical powdery hot chocolate. It’s silky, smooth, and rich, like drinking, well, melted chocolate.

Topped with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cocoa powder, the hot chocolate at the Chocolate Museum & Cafe is a love letter to chocolate that will redefine your expectations of this classic cozy beverage.

Better than Sex

A tall glass mug of hot chocolate sitting on a bar, topped with whipped cream and cocoa powder, found at Better than Sex in Orlando.

While hot chocolate usually has a kid-friendly reputation, Better Than Sex is reimagining the sensuality of this moody, dramatic drink.

In fact, their entire menu is made up of sinfully delicious desserts with cheeky names that may make you blush.

Take, for example, the velvety smooth Peanut Butter Perversion Pie, or the Morning After Dessert Sandwich (melty brie cheese and Belgian dark chocolate between two griddled slices of buttered bread, dipped in strawberry champagne soup).

The restaurant itself is dimly lit with three-sided booths for extra privacy, plenty of candlelight, and sparkling crystal chandeliers.

Their hot chocolate is as decadent as any of their sweet showstoppers, and perfect when enjoyed with a special someone.

Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop

All the way from the streets of San Francisco is the Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop.

Ghirardelli is the third-oldest chocolate company in the United States and one of the only American companies that controls the entire chocolate-making process from cocoa bean to finished product.

You may recognize Ghirardelli’s colorful chocolate squares from the shelves of your grocery stores, but their Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop in Disney Springs will open your eyes to a new realm of their chocolate legacy.

In addition to specialty sundaes and shakes, Ghirardelli is known for their sinfully smooth hot chocolate.

Available in classic and Sea Salt Caramel, Ghirardelli hot chocolate is a luxurious way to experience the rich flavors of their chocolate.

And, if you’re craving hot chocolate but sweltering in the heat, you can always try it frozen, blended with milk and ice and topped with whipped cream and mini dark chocolate chips.

JoJo’s Shake Bar

On a hot day, nothing hits the spot quite like an epic JoJo’s Shake Bar milkshake. But on cooler days, their hot chocolate is where it’s at.

Just like their milkshakes, their hot chocolate is anything but basic. Even the Classic Chocolate hot chocolate is topped with marshmallow fluff, toasted to golden brown perfection like a marshmallow straight out of a campfire.

The Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate takes things to the next level, adorned with a Gold Star Marshmallow, a toffee donut hole, and a toffee pretzel (in addition to the toasted marshmallow fluff).

Too much caramel and not enough chocolate? The Double Chocolate has toasted marshmallow fluff (of course), a chocolate covered marshmallow, and a chocolate covered s’more perched on top of the cup.

You can find JoJo’s and their deliriously delicious hot chocolates at Pointe Orlando, a quick and easy drive from Rosen Inn International.
