Leap into spring with Pete the Cat as the Orlando REP Presents Pete the Cat: The Musical. With shows starting on leap day, kids and their families will have a groovy time seeing one of their favorite literary felines come to life onstage from February 29 – April 5, 2020.
Six Weeks of Pete the Cat
Never one to lose his cool, Pete the Cat is the star of the popular New York Times bestselling children’s book series and a television series on Amazon Prime. The beloved character, created by James and Kimberly Dean, takes a brand-new form onstage in his own musical written by Will Aronson and Sarah Hammond.
The production follows the mellow feline as he meets Jimmy Biddle, the most organized second grader on planet Earth, who is drawing a blank in art class during the last week of school. To help, Pete decides to take Jimmy around the globe in his VW bus in search of the inspiration Jimmy needs to conquer second-grade art. Fun for the whole family, the musical is a rocking tale about friendship that shows how life can be an adventure no matter where you wind up.
Guests can catch the groovy blue cat live in two performances every Saturday and Sunday from February 29 through April 5, 2020. Daily matinee and evening performances of the show will be held at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., respectively.
Special Pete Performances
The evening showing of Pete the Cat: The Musical on Sunday, March 29 will be a sensory-friendly performance. Such special modifications for parents and children will include:
- Lighting and sound effect adjustments to the show
- Volunteer helpers and seating assistants stationed throughout the theatre and in the lobby
- A quiet room available to patrons who should need to leave the theatre at any time
- A downloadable resource guide, A Social Story, about the theatre-going experience and what to expect ahead of the show
For hearing-impaired guests, an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreted show will be held the following day on Monday, March 30, 2020.
