Things to Do at Southern Hills Farm in the Spring
The flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping, and the sun is shining. Spring has arrived in Central Florida. Take advantage of the longer and brighter days with a trip to Southern Hills Farm, less than a 30-minute drive from Rosen Inn International. This family owned and operated 120-acre farm is a favorite amongst locals and a great way for all ages to enjoy the seasonal Florida crops and flowers.
This is a perfect activity for those on a budget as entrance to the farm is free!
Spring U-Pick
One of the coolest features of this farm is the ability to pick your own crops!
In 2023, you could pick and take home a pound of blueberries for only $5. This is such a unique activity and a great way to teach children about the food cycle while enjoying a delicious treat after. There are also opportunities to pick other seasonal crops like juicy peaches and fresh vegetables.
Food Trucks
Don’t want to get your hands dirty? There’s no need to pick crops to enjoy seasonal treats with these natural ingredients.
In the Spring, you’ll find blueberry flavored everything. The on-site bakery offers delicious blueberry donuts, tasty blueberry cobbler, and even a refreshing blueberry lemonade. Be careful not to fill up on sweets because you can also find food trucks that serve lunch with seasonal craft beers and farm-made cocktails.
Keep your eyes peeled for an empty picnic table to enjoy this seasonal feast in the most picturesque way.
Covered Playground
This farm welcomes families with children of all ages to enjoy a lovely spring day.
Let your kids make new friends as they enjoy the covered playground. It’s filled with swings, chalk, LEGOs, sand to dig in, and things to climb on. Let your little ones run wild here for a good night’s sleep.
Thank us later.
Market
After a beautiful day on the farm, you might want to commemorate your day or simply support this local business further.
Be sure to check out the market where you can buy local hand-crafted items, from raw unfiltered honey to Southern Hills Farm merch. The market is great for buying gifts to take home as they also sell clothes, pins, stickers, patches, soaps, and jewelry.
Flower Field
One of the coolest and most photographable spots is the flower field.
You’ll need a Flower Field Area Pass to enter. Passes are $6 for visitors ages 10 and up and $4 for children 3-9. Once in this field, you’re free to roam the rows of sunflowers and colorful wildflowers.
If you want to pick your own sunflower, you can for $2 per sunflower. This interactive activity makes the sunflower you pick special.
We recommend snapping some pictures in the field with your own sunflower to show all your friends back home how beautiful Orlando is in the Spring. Be sure to tag us on Instagram @roseninnint for a chance to be featured!
